About Asteya Yogi

Jessica has been practicing yoga since 2013 after her orthopedic doctor recommended the practice to her in lieu of spinal surgery for scoliosis. From her first yoga class, Jessica became aware of how much stress she held in the body and the need for mindful breath. The liberation provided by mindful breathing in combination with practicing asanas was the healing fix that put her on her yoga journey.

In order to dive deeper into yoga, in 2017 Jessica received her RYT 200 from Lex Gillan at the Institute for Spirituality and Health (ISH) at the Texas medical center. She also completed in person Yin Yoga training with Bernie Clark and Diana Batts in Vancouver B.C. and has half way completed becoming certified to teach Yoga for Scoliosis through Elise B. Miller.

With over 900 classes taught, Jessica continues to develop her ever changing personal teaching style. Classes can be relaxing yet challenging at times. She incorporates mindful meditation and breathing exercises to help guide students to focus on their present moment to assist in strengthening their overall practice.

Sessions are locally operated in Houston, Texas. Jessica is fully certified, insured and trained in various yoga practices giving you a more enriched and deeper journey. Her intentions are to set out and create spaces for yogis to disconnect and go inward, spaces where they feel like they belong.

Who can do yoga? anybody, all you need to be able to do is breathe. Yoga is for everyone and every-body; from beginner to advanced — all levels of practice are welcomed. There’s just one thing missing: You, with a focus on a safe and mindful practice, a yogis’ journey is supported by the best and inspiring yoga instructor within clean and calm environments.
